Panel Discussion on Data Protection Bill 2019

The Centre for Cyber Laws & the Centre for Communication Governance at National Law University Delhi hosted a panel discussion on online privacy and data protection issues under the Data Protection Bill 2019 including a focused discussion on the recent change announced in the WhatsApp policy, contours of non-personal data under the 2019 Bill and online surveillance by the government as well as the business sector.

Celebrating Three Years of the Justice K.S. Puttaswamy Judgment

August 24, 2020 marks the third anniversary of the Justice K.S. Puttaswamy judgement, wherein a nine-judge bench of the Supreme Court unanimously reaffirmed the right to privacy as a fundamental right under the Indian Constitution. Like the previous two years, it gives us immense pleasure to convene an online Discussion Celebrating Three Years of the Justice K. S. Puttaswamy v. Union of India Judgment. Hon’ble Mr. Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul, one of the nine judges in Justice K.S. Puttaswamy will deliver the Keynote Address and release a book on Privacy and the Indian Supreme Court, a compendium of the Court’s privacy jurisprudence. At this occasion we will also launch the first phase of our Privacy Law Library, a project supported by Omidyar Network India. Ms. Karuna Nundy, Advocate, Supreme Court of India will provide the concluding remarks on the future of privacy in India.
