CCG organized a virtual panel discussion on the recently notified Information Technology (Intermediaries Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021 titled 'Public Square or Walled Garden? A Conversation on India's New Internet Regulations'.

Given the significant role internet platforms, social media, and messaging services play in society, there is a need for fresh regulation to be framed to appropriately regulate them. However, such regulation needs to be in consonance with human rights and fundamental rights like the rights to free speech, privacy, and to freely conduct business and profession online.
