As India prepares for the AI Impact Summit in 2026, CCG, in partnership with Global Network Initiative (GNI) and Digital Impact Alliance (DIAL), hosted an official pre-summit, consultative workshop at the Global DPI Summit that took place in Cape Town, South Africa, between 4-6 November 2025.
With participation from civil society, AI developers and organisations from the African sub-continent and the Global South, the workshop explored how AI can be used in DPI infrastructures to deliver inclusive, scalable, and rights-respecting solutions that address the needs of people and societies. The workshop focused on specific real-time use-cases that had leveraged both DPI and AI technologies for public service delivery, and discussed how inclusive design can not only reduce harms but also create pathways for broader adoption, trust, and empowerment. Finally, the workshop gathered insights and lessons from the DPI evolution for the development of public interest/public options for AI, enabling a more democratised ecosystem.
