CCG-NLUD completed 10 years this year. To celebrate CCG’s journey in the Information Technology law and policy space, we hosted an event ‘CCG@10’: From the Privacy Bill to the Data Protection Act: Reflections on the Journey So Far” on 15 December 2023 at India Habitat Centre, in New Delhi. CCG welcomed Chinmayi Arun, CCG’s Founding Executive Director and current Executive Director, Information Society Project (ISP), Yale University and a Research Scholar in Law at Yale Law School and Dr. Usha Ramanathan, an Independent Law Researcher as special guests of CCG’s 10-year celebration. The event comprised a Fireside chat between Chinmayi Arun and Jhalak M. Kakkar, Executive Director at CCG, an Expert Discussion on the Future of Data Protection Law in India with Dr. Ramanathan, moderated by Sachin Dhawan, Programme Manager at CCG, and a book launch of the second edition of Privacy and the Indian Supreme Court: A Compendium of Case Briefs. The book is an extension of CCG's efforts to track global privacy jurisprudence. This new edition contains case briefs of 64 Indian Supreme Court Judgments (from 1954 to 2023) on privacy. The case briefs are categorized based on aspects of privacy for easy reference. Each brief contains an overview of the case and major issues at a glance. The aim of the book is to track the evolution of the Right to Privacy in the Supreme Court of India.
