Aspirations for the India AI Impact Summit

As India prepares for the AI Impact Summit in February 2026, the Centre for Communication Governance at National Law University Delhi organised an in-person event at the sidelines of IGF 2025 on 25th June, 2025 in partnership with the United Nations Office for Digital and Emerging Technologies (UN ODET). The objective of this closed door multi stakeholder dialogue was to set in motion thinking around enabling an inclusive and representative AI Impact Summit and generate in-depth discourse on critical AI issues among global AI experts, particularly those from the Global Majority, by leveraging the multistakeholder setting of the IGF.

Stakeholders across civil society, academia and industry engaged with the India AI mission to explore insights from previous Summits and on strengthening inclusive engagement toward the AI Impact Summit. Abhishek Singh, CEO, IndiaAI Mission and Additional Secretary, MEITY spoke at this discussion, receiving input from stakeholders on themes and mechanisms for engagement for the India AI Impact Summit.

Our civil society collaborators for this event included Global Network Initiative (GNI), EngageMedia, Derechos Digitales, Collaboration on International ICT Policy for East and Southern Africa, the Forum on Information Democracy and LIRNEasia.
